Even in strong winds and rain, the Orion III Extreme 3-person tent from Exped stands secure and stable. Whether you’re on an expedition, alpine tour or a demanding trek, this hard-wearing tent convinces with its excellent choice of materials and spacious design. With two side entrances, adjoining vestibules and sturdy ridge poles down to the ground, the trekking tent ensures flexibility on tour.
Freestanding trekking tent with DAC poles
Exped uses high-quality tent poles from DAC for the Orion III Extreme. The DAC Featherlite TH72M NSL poles with a thickness of 9.6 mm and 10.25 mm support the freestanding inner tent made from 30D ripstop nylon and 20D no-see-um mosquito netting. In low temperatures, the inner tent can also closed so that it insulates even better. For the floor of the tent, Exped uses sturdy 70D taffeta nylon with a hydrostatic head of 10000 mm. An additional footprint is available as a separate groundsheet for extra protection on stony ground.
Thanks to the silicone coating on both sides, the 40D ripstop nylon outer tent is optimally protected against moisture and rain. With its steep outer walls and 140 cm interior height, the Orion III Extreme offers plenty of space even for taller people and, above all, pleasant headroom. This expedition-ready tent has six fixed guy-out points and comes with pre-fitted Dyneema guy ropes. Depending on your circumstances, there is plenty of room for either two or three people on the 230 x 160 cm sleeping surface. Plus, the two vestibules provide all the necessary space for equipment, shoes and backpacks.
