Braking aid for rope teams with and without a weight difference
Rethinking belaying – the compact Ohmega from Edelrid is a belay aid with a wide range of applications and designed for a broad audience. It offers real added value in terms of safety and comfort – both for the climber and the belayer – whether in the climbing gym, on the crag or on alpine sport climbing routes (with a single rope). This benefits climbers of all ability levels, as well as rope teams with or without a weight difference.
Three braking levels
The integrated HMPE sling allows three braking levels to be set in a single movement, depending on the weight distribution. The integrated pulley reduces friction while climbing and clipping, making it ideal for long and difficult routes. Thanks to the short HMPE sling and the resulting minimal activation travel, the belayer can belay more dynamically and smoothly, which reduces the risk of impact injuries. In the event of a fall, the locking cam slows the descent, thereby supporting the belayer and compensating for any weight difference. This ensures that the belayer is not pulled upwards uncontrollably in the event of a long fall.
Also suitable for falls close to the ground
In the event of falls close to the ground, the Ohmega’s braking pressure reduces both the risk of a collision between the climber and the belayer and the risk of hitting the ground. What’s more, the Ohmega reliably slows the climber down even if they fall directly into the device.
