The Birdlime 1R 9.8 single rope from Edelrid is making history, as it is the first synthetic climbing rope made from renewable, organic raw materials. With this product, Edelrid is sending a clear signal that sustainable practices can also be achieved in the production of climbing ropes. More than 40% of the rope's fibres consist of castor oil-based material, i.e. a raw material made from renewable components. Plus, with its robust fibres and 9.8 mm diameter, it is ideal for sport climbing and can be used for your vertical projects without having to shorten the rope frequently. Its thickness means that it can also be used with most belay devices.

Craning is prevented

The Birdlime 1R 9.8 comes in the typical Edelrid packaging, which scores points with its 3D lap coiling. This means that the rope can be used straight away and you are not confronted with the classic problem of smoothing out the initial craning. Thanks to the Themo Shield treatment of the rope, its handling remains comfortable and supple even with frequent use so that it runs well in your belay device.
