Still a must for alpinists: the Climbing Technology Angle Wide Piton! Pitons in general and the wider models in particular are far from being state of the art, as bolts, nuts and cams have supplanted them for the most part. But, for certain alpine routes, a solid piton is a good thing to have. The advantage they have over other devices will be clear as soon as you have to set up a rappel station. You don't have to be frugal to see the difference in price between a piton and a friend. The Angle Wide are hard steel pitons that are intended for use on hard rock. They are suitable for large cracks.
Important notice: the length of 11cm is classified as a UIAA piton for Progression only. The 14cm size is for Safety!
