Perfect for steep alpine ice and technical mountaineering routes - the Black Diamond Venom Hammer! The Venom Hammer comes with a Mountain Tech pick, which can not only be swapped out thanks to the interchangeable pick design but will also allow for high-angle penetration. This along with the slightly curved aluminium shaft makes this technical axe perfect for steep ice. Since your forearms tend to take quite the beating in such terrain, the Venom features an adjustable FlickLock pommel.
The aluminium shaft is the perfect combination of stability and lightness. The pick is equipped with a hammer, which will allow you to place pitons or hammer tools into the ice. The dual-density moulded grip will ensure that the axe fits nicely in your hand. Of course, there is a spike at the bottom of the shaft as well, which will support you when using the axe as a walking stick.
